You know that feeling? The one where you can communicate with someone without using words and it just feels wonderful? You found someone that you can tell anything and everything. They know everything about you and you about them. You're so close, in fact, that speaking out loud becomes superfluous in certain situations. It's easier just to give a look. Sometimes it's even better.
Well, I've had these experiences many times in my life. But I've never quite experienced them the way I do with my son.
Sometimes we just stare at each other for minutes and minutes, having this whole conversation without any sound at all. I love it more than anything. These are the moments that make my days complete.
I love that even though he is unable to speak yet, with just one look I can understand exactly what he's trying to say.
"Mom, it hurts."
"Will you feed me already?"
"Mom, let's play."
"I love it when you sing to me."
"Mom, you're silly."
"I'm tired. Please help me fall asleep, Mom."
"I'm frustrated because I want to be able to move around like you, dad, and Nash do. But I can't figure it out."
"This is fun!"
"You always know exactly what I need, Mom."
And perhaps my two favorites...
"Thanks, Mom."
and
"Mom, I love you."
Being a mom is, well, simply amazing.
