Oh Baby

I am being bombarded with questions.

"How are you feeling?" (Great. Only tired with some back pain. But other than that, fabulous.)

"When is your due date again?" (September 9)

"Are you happy it's a boy?" (Of course! I've always wanted a boy first.)

"What colors are you doing in the nursery?" (This is a surprise. I'll show you when it's done, though I'm not 100% positive on my choice yet.)

"Have you felt the baby kick?" (For the first time on Saturday night. Most magical thing ever.)

And about a million more.

The questions don't bother me, a bit redundant, but no big deal.

And here's the most common one:

"Do you have names picked out yet?"

And here is my answer:

No, we don't.

We have ONE name picked out.

And we are positive about it.

Want to know what the little guy's name will be?

Great.

But first, let me show you some of the stuff we have accumulating.

From Grandma 1 (my mom):

From Grandma 2 (Jess's mom):

From Mom (yes, that's me):

And baby's first pair of shoes (from me):

Now for the name....

Ryan Jess.

Yes, our little Ry Guy.

We love the name and it holds special meaning for us (no, not just because the MIDDLE name is after his daddy...)

Thrift Store Extravaganza

Early Saturday morning, my cousins Carli, Casey, and I decided to go on a thrift store shopping adventure.

First, we stopped at an estate sale. It took us FOREVER to find it (the lady gave us TERRIBLE directions to her OWN house) but Case got a cute glass dome thing. So it was worth it.

Then, we went to 50% off day at Goodwill. It was CRAZY and we ALL got AMAZING stuff.

(Belts: 50 cents each)

(Not sure I even need to do anything with this stuff: $3.50 total)

(So ugly it's actually cute. And when I'm done with it...it will be even cuter! $1.50)

(Lampt + Shade = $3.50. PROJECT!)

And two long, red shelves: $7 each. I am in LOVE with them.

After that, we headed on over to Savers...just because we could. Again, we scored.

(Ugly frames...fun projects!)

(Plain Pillows: Spent too much on all these, but I couldn't pass them by. I have a fun project in mind for them!)

And last, we stopped at this cute little store where I scored BIG TIME. Wooooo!

($6.50 total. Yes, I mean for the set. I could NOT pass this up. Especially when they looked new and the original price tags on the bottom say $25.99 and $27.99. What??! SCORE!)

It was such a fun day and now I'm looking forward to fun projects!! :)

Who's up to going with me on the next 50% off Goodwill day?

Be the Best You Can Be Week #5

I skipped a week...but here is how things went over the past TWO weeks:

1. Red 3 conference talks per week.

EPIC FAIL. Have not done this. Hopefully this week...

2. Start on school projects NOW.

I already have one completed and one halfway there that aren't due until May 3. Woo! I will knock off another two this week hopefully.

3. Pray on my knees.

Going good so far.

New Goals:

1. Read 3 conference talks a week.

Let's see how this goes THIS week...

2. Make the best use of my time.

I need to learn to fit more in though I'm doing much better.

3. Do something nice for someone else.

I don't feel service oriented enough lately. Service = best feeling ever.

Here's to a great new week!

Help!

I got a letter from Nikon yesterday.

Yes, they received my camera.

No, my warranty doesn't cover the expenses.

Yes, they can fix it.

No, not free of charge.

Yes, they are trying to charge me over $100 to fix it.

No, they will not lower the price.

Yes, they are asking $90 less than what I originally PAID for the camera to fix it.

No, that isn't ridiculous.

Yes, I'm mad.

No, I won't pay that much to get it fixed when I can get a new one for not much more. Especially when this one broke so easily. It's obviously crap.

Yes, I need camera buying advice.

No, I will NOT buy another Nikon.

Yes, I need one quick.

No, we were not expecting to have to buy a new one and spend that money right now.

Yes, I want your opinions.

Now.

Thanks.

My internet is back!

After about a week...my internet works again! Yay!

On our own...we tried the usual things, turn off the modem/router, check the cords, restart computer, mess with it on the comp, reboot it all, etc. etc.

Then Jess called Cox and got the whole, "Not our problem. Call the router company."

They couldn't help us.

I was getting frustrated. Cox thinks it's not their problem? Well...I pay them every month so I have internet. And I didn't have it. So they SHOULD be able to tell me what's wrong. Plus...they installed my router. So as far as I'm concerned...it IS there problem. They were just trying to get rid of us.

I called Cox back this morning. It took me 45 minutes of talking to a computer automated lady to get to an actual agent. Seriously? I'd already tried everything she told me to do. And no...pressing "0" on my phone didn't take me to an agent. Frustrating.

Anyway, I finally get on the phone with this lady. And I decide to be nice to her. I tell her what's happening and ask her my questions. She says, "That's not our problem. Call the router company." So I say, very nicely, "We already did. They can't help us."
Lady: "I'm sorry. We can't do anything about that."
Me: "But I'm paying for internet I'm not getting. Can you at least prorate it?"
Lady: "No. It has nothing to do with us. So we can't do anything more for you." (Mind you everything I say is in a nice tone. Everything she says in a very snooty, rude, ridiculing voice.)

Our conversation continued on. I wanted to make sure I had ALL my questions answered before I hung up because I didn't want to have to go through another 45 minutes with a computer just to answer another question. And, well, she got ruder and ruder to the point where, yes, I started crying on the phone. I was NOT happy with her. She was being SO mean. And I was being extra nice. I SHOULD have been rude to her. Not nice. So yes...I cried on the phone with a lady who works at Cox today. I blame it on the pregnancy.

Then I call our router company. Get an Indian lady who's hard to understand, but very nice. I spent an hour on the phone with her. Our router is in our garage (which I hate. Bugs. It smells. Etc.) It was way hot in there and I had nowhere to sit (which got really annoying about forty minutes into it). But...after an hour of messing with things on the computer...I NOW HAVE INTERNET. YAY!

So if anyone ever needs help with it...just let me know and I'll see if what I learned helps. There were a bunch of problems going on.

Now I'm just waiting to hear from Nikon about my camera. Gah. Hopefully soon. I wish I knew about how long it takes...

Until next time.

:)

Be the Best You Can Be Week #4

Sorry I've been MIA. My internet stopped working on Friday or Saturday. I don't remember which. I've gone to my mom's a couple of times to use her internet for homework...but I haven't blogged at all.

Oh, and it STILL doesn't work. I'm at ASU right now. Should be doing homework now but I figured I would let you all know what's up.

I've done everything I can think of to try and fix it. We called Cox. And it's actually not our internet. It's something with the router which is a different company. So we called them and got an Indian Answering Service thing. Couldn't understand the guy and he had no idea what he was talking about anyway.

We have one more thing to try tonight. If that doesn't work, well I'm out of luck and we'll be searching for someone to call and help us. Know anyone who's good with computer/internet problems???

So I'll probably still be MIA for awhile.

As far as my goals went last week. EPIC FAIL. I'm serious. I didn't do well at all. So I'm keeping the same goals. Wish me luck with goals and mostly with my internet problems!

(Oh...and the camera was sent in about a week ago. Wish me luck with that getting fixed, too so I can get some pics back on here!)

Be the Best You Can Be Week #3

Well...this week's goals went fairly well, once again.

1. Straighten the house every morning. I LOVE this. It makes the day so much better.

2. Get ahead in school. This made life so simple.

3. Pray on my knees. So much better.

New goals:

1. Pray on my knees. I want to completely solidify this one, no turning back.

2. Re-read/listen to at least 3 General Conference talks a week. I want to get more out of them. I'm afraid I was a bit too focused on these guys:

And not focused enough on the words being spoken.

3. Start working on final school projects NOW so they don't all catch up on me.

Productivity

This week I decided that I was going to see just how much I can get done each day.

Needless to say, I have surprised myself.

I can make much better use of my time.

And I am glad that I learned this now, before baby.

And when I get more done during the day, I can allow myself to relax at night. Really relax. Meaning when I cuddle with my husband (which I will inevitably do) I don't feel guilty, like I should be doing homework or something.

By the way, something sounds backwards about that last statement. If I'm doing homework at night, shouldn't I feel guilty that I'm not cuddling with my husband?

Oh wait...I do that, too.

Anyway, I love this productiveness.

P.S. -- I already know what I'm gonna do for my mom for Mother's Day and for my dad for Father's Day. How awesome is that?! But both are gonna take some time... :) The tricky part is to keep them from being jealous of the other's gift...
