After about a week...my internet works again! Yay!
On our own...we tried the usual things, turn off the modem/router, check the cords, restart computer, mess with it on the comp, reboot it all, etc. etc.
Then Jess called Cox and got the whole, "Not our problem. Call the router company."
They couldn't help us.
I was getting frustrated. Cox thinks it's not their problem? Well...I pay them every month so I have internet. And I didn't have it. So they SHOULD be able to tell me what's wrong. Plus...they installed my router. So as far as I'm concerned...it IS there problem. They were just trying to get rid of us.
I called Cox back this morning. It took me 45 minutes of talking to a computer automated lady to get to an actual agent. Seriously? I'd already tried everything she told me to do. And no...pressing "0" on my phone didn't take me to an agent. Frustrating.
Anyway, I finally get on the phone with this lady. And I decide to be nice to her. I tell her what's happening and ask her my questions. She says, "That's not our problem. Call the router company." So I say, very nicely, "We already did. They can't help us."
Lady: "I'm sorry. We can't do anything about that."
Me: "But I'm paying for internet I'm not getting. Can you at least prorate it?"
Lady: "No. It has nothing to do with us. So we can't do anything more for you." (Mind you everything I say is in a nice tone. Everything she says in a very snooty, rude, ridiculing voice.)
Our conversation continued on. I wanted to make sure I had ALL my questions answered before I hung up because I didn't want to have to go through another 45 minutes with a computer just to answer another question. And, well, she got ruder and ruder to the point where, yes, I started crying on the phone. I was NOT happy with her. She was being SO mean. And I was being extra nice. I SHOULD have been rude to her. Not nice. So yes...I cried on the phone with a lady who works at Cox today. I blame it on the pregnancy.
Then I call our router company. Get an Indian lady who's hard to understand, but very nice. I spent an hour on the phone with her. Our router is in our garage (which I hate. Bugs. It smells. Etc.) It was way hot in there and I had nowhere to sit (which got really annoying about forty minutes into it). But...after an hour of messing with things on the computer...I NOW HAVE INTERNET. YAY!
So if anyone ever needs help with it...just let me know and I'll see if what I learned helps. There were a bunch of problems going on.
Now I'm just waiting to hear from Nikon about my camera. Gah. Hopefully soon. I wish I knew about how long it takes...
Until next time.
