Help!

I got a letter from Nikon yesterday.

Yes, they received my camera.

No, my warranty doesn't cover the expenses.

Yes, they can fix it.

No, not free of charge.

Yes, they are trying to charge me over $100 to fix it.

No, they will not lower the price.

Yes, they are asking $90 less than what I originally PAID for the camera to fix it.

No, that isn't ridiculous.

Yes, I'm mad.

No, I won't pay that much to get it fixed when I can get a new one for not much more. Especially when this one broke so easily. It's obviously crap.

Yes, I need camera buying advice.

No, I will NOT buy another Nikon.

Yes, I need one quick.

No, we were not expecting to have to buy a new one and spend that money right now.

Yes, I want your opinions.

Now.

Thanks.

  1. Had exactly the same experience with Sony. If you're looking for customer service, don't go there either. Also, if they will send you back your camera you could try a specialty photo shop to fix it. Allen's camera and Inkley's fix a lot of things for cheaper than the manufacturer. Good luck!

  2. i have the cannon rebel and i'm in love. i have no idea how to use it, and if i bought other lenses & stuff....it could be even cooler than it is......BUT, it takes great pictures & makes me happy....even on the auto-mode. :)

i also have a little panasonic that i LOVE too, and does video & is cheaper.

    that's my two cents. :)

  4. CANNON... all the way. I would suggest buying a Cannon PowerShot. I bought one summer of 2007 and it has done nothing but wonders. It's really sturdy and all around AMAZiNG. If you need any other advice or help, just let me know! Hope it all works out!

  8. I love my Cannon Rebel from Costco. The best part is the warranty... after I had it for a year something happened with reading my card, and so I called the extended warranty (automatically get 2 years through Costco) and they had me pay to ship it to them, and they did the rest!! If ANYTHING happens to it in the first 90 days you just take it back to Costco and get a whole new one. AND right now they are even including the zoom lens which I didn't get but want badly!! Dang Costco should pay me for this comment ;)
