Nicknames

Jess loves to give me nicknames. All kinds of them. So I compiled a list of them (his blog idea. He's really excited about it.) And he's adorable. I love my husband. And I love his cute, funny, random, weird nicknames for me.

Honey Bunches of Oats
Sugar Pie Honey "Bunch"
Busty Larou
Chesty McGee
Super hottie with a naughty body
Tigre
Snuffaluffagus
Scooby Doo
Scrappy Doo
Cuddle Bear
Scuttle Butt

I know there are about a million more. And he comes up with a new one just about every week. But this is all I can think of right now. But I LOVE that he gives me random nicknames. He just says whatever comes out. Hence, Scuttle Butt and Snuffaluffagus came to life. But it's like his thing. And I think that it is ADORABLE.

Projects and Awesome Hubby

While I was sick, I accomplished this project.

I really needed something to put on my front door - something welcoming, something cute. Needless to say, I was having a really hard time doing so. Then I stumbled across this blog.

Now I bring you...my new front door embellishment...

So easy and I love it! Thanks Blue Cricket!

My next project I completed today. It was a nice Sunday afternoon/evening project. I've been feeling very disorganized lately. I have so much to fit into my days...and lots more that I'd LIKE to fit in. So I've needed something to help keep me organized. So I made some lists and made this.

It still needs to be hung on a wall in my kitchen...but I'll have Jess do that tomorrow. And don't worry...I used tape on the lists so I don't have to re-scrapbook them each time. I simply pull of the lists and stick on the new one. Fab.U.Lous. I love it!

And now for the awesome hubby part. On Wednesday night when Jess got home I was tired and stressed. He could tell and so he decided to make dinner. Yummy teriyaki chicken with pineapple and brown rice. Let me just tell you, my husband makes awesome rice bowls. No lie. He's the best. Look at this...

Is your mouth watering yet?

It gets better. He was sick this weekend so he didn't go to all of church today. He just taught his lesson and left. My teaching companion couldn't make it to class today so I was left with 8 five year olds. It would have been fine...except one kid was being SO disruptive. I could not get him to stop screaming and yelling inappropriate comments...that the rest of the class laughed at. It was not good. So I text Jess to see if he'd left yet and if he could come save me. But he was home already. So...he made me hamburgers and fries because, in his words, "Fries make EVERYTHING better!" His fries = pure deliciousness. I was in LOVE. They were better than restaurant fries. He is the best. And he loves me. And he's all mine so don't get any ideas. :)

His greatness continues on. My aunt got married on Friday night and I went and helped Thursday night for a few hours and was there a few hours early on Friday to help set-up. Jess was sick but he came for the wedding and then stayed after for almost 2 hours to help clean up. He didn't even complain. He was so tough. I just love him!

Story Time

**Note: This story is not for those with weak stomachs. Or who ate Kroger salad today.

So this morning I decided to be a good "wifey" and got up early to make my husband a yummy lunch to take to work. Yesterday I marinated some yummy chicken and cooked it up so that today I could put a piece of chicken, Parmesan cheese, croutons, bacon, lettuce and dressing (in a separate container, of course) into his cooler so he could have a yummy salad for lunch. So I got in the cupboard and pulled out a thing of tupperware. Then I went to the fridge to get out the package of lettuce. I opened it up and began to pour it into the tupperware (don't worry. I was going to rinse the lettuce. I was just measuring it out first.) After about 6 pieces of lettuce came out of the package, I noticed something suspicious looking. It was either a small, shriveled up piece of dark lettuce or the unnamable. I got a spoon and fished it out, putting it right up to my eye for close examination.

You got it. It was definitely the unnamable.

Rodent poop. I'm not even kidding. How nasty is that? Needless to say, I was a bit queasy in the stomach.

In conclusion, I submit that there are two things that could have happened.

1. A rodent is running around my house and pooping in my tupperware
2. A rodent was running around the Kroger factory pooping on the lettuce

Personally, I'm gonna go with option two. Mostly because I don't want to think that there is a mouse or rat living in my house. Ewww. Plus, I think I would have noticed by now. Or Nash would have. Or something. Right? (**Note: This is the part where you console me and tell me I'm right.)

So here's the moral of the story: Don't buy Kroger packaged lettuce. Go with Ready-Pac or Dole. They are both safer bets.

Ohhhhhhh and this is the FIRST time I've ever bought Kroger. I usually DO get Ready-Pac or Dole. But Kroger was cheaper. Bad idea.

Dear Kroger,

I know that your lettuce is cheaper than Ready-Pac and Dole. And now I know the reason for that. I just wanted to inform you that I'll pay the extra twenty cents to keep rodent poop OUT of my lettuce. kthanksbye.

~ Me

P.S. -- I hate your stinking guts. You make me vomit. You're the scum between my toes.

(Name that movie.)

I'm totally grossed out. Seriously.

Butterflies

A few days ago I read something that really bugged me. It said something along these lines: Butterflies happen at the beginning of relationships only. It's what happens when you get excited about the unexpected, the mystery of something new. They go away with familiarity.

Ummm....hi. Whoever said that (and I don't remember WHO or WHERE I read it and it's driving me nuts) you're WRONG. Totally off. And you're making me mad.

Let me just say that Jess still gives me butterflies. Just about every day. I don't know how he does it, but I still get that top-of-the-roller-coaster-stomach-hollowness-amazingness-feeling all the freaking time. And I love it.

It happens when he kisses me...not the "Bye. I love you." kiss as he leaves for work. Or the "Goodnight. Sweet dreams." kiss before bed. It's not even the "I.Want.You.Now." intensely intimate kiss. But the one that says, "I love you. I can't live without you." The one that comes at random.

Side note: All the above kisses are FAB-U-LOUS though. And I love ALL of them.

It happens when he holds my hand.

It happens when he wraps his arm around me and pulls me in tighter. I could stay in his arms forever and I'm convinced that's where I belong.

It happens when he gives me that look. The look that says EVERYTHING without saying ANYTHING at all.

Side note: I hope I NEVER forget this moment. Wedding night. Last dance. So unbelievably happy. Yes, I'm crying. Just in case you were wondering.

I love my best friend/lover. So much.

New Obsession...

Picnik.com is fun.

I just tried a bunch of random things to see what could be done on there.

Here's some of my boredom/sickness/can't get out of bed creations:

Nothing great. Just fun to mess around with!

Random Thoughts of the Day...

So Wednesday night, Jess came home from work with Golden Spoon (my favorite and I NEVER get it anymore. Before we got married we had it AT LEAST twice a week. We have it twice since we got married.) And...he also stopped by El Pollo Loco and got me mashed potatoes and gravy and mac n' cheese. For some reason, when I'm sick...that's all I want to eat. It doesn't hurt the throat so bad. It was perfect because I hadn't eaten ANYTHING all day so I was really weak. My husband = awesome. He takes care of me.

Thursday morning I woke up and had to go to school. Ugghhh. Well...I thought I was feeling better (the advil must have kicked in) so I ran a BUNCH of errands. BAD IDEA. I went to a TON of stores, got some Halloween decor, some craft stuff and a couple CUTE and CHEAP pairs of shoes (Thank you Ross!). I came home and started a project, ate dinner and then halfway through dinner BAM. Fever, dizzy, couldn't stand. It was TERRIBLE. I guess I tried to do much too quick.

Now I'm back in bed today. My house is a GIANT mess...but I can't stand long enough to clean it.

I might try to get some projects done later today. I think I can do them with fairly little movement. That way I'll feel accomplished. But lazy days can be fun. :)

It's kinda nice.

Plus, I love reading all these blogs. It's awesome. And I can get caught up with some reading.

Oh, and the book club is canceled.

Check back later tonight for the projects I'll HOPEFULLY accomplish today!

You know what I decided...

Being sick is no fun.

You get no sleep.

You can't swallow.

You aren't hungry.

It hurts to talk.

Your head feels like it's going to explode.

Your body aches.

You have no energy.

You have a long to-do list that needs attention to.

You just wanna sleep/blog.

You have no medicine in your cabinets yet (Jess will buy some on his way home from work. NyQuil is my lifesaver. And Airborne to help prevent this in the future...)

And...your husband steals your pillow halfway through the night so HE has 2 and you have ZERO!

yes folks...that's right. Jess stole my pillow last night. we have more that we use for decor and not sleep. but they are too firm to sleep on. and i was too lazy/sick to get up and pick one up off the floor after they were thrown across the room. so i found the corner of his that wasn't being used, snuggled closer, and we shared his TWO pillows.

Anyway...I'm sick. But...Wednesdays I don't have school...I just pack in a lot of homework and chores.

However, I just decided that I want to get BETTER. Preferably so tomorrow's 2 and 1/2 BORING hours of school are ENDURABLE. Therefore I'm skipping the chores, doing some homework and then blogging/sleeping all day. No I won't shower (ewwww....). No I won't mop/vacuum my floors (they really need it...). No I won't make dinner (frozen dinners anyone?).

Jess will be happy. Those were his orders. He gives them to me on days where I'm super tired or stressed. And he gave them to me again today. Stronger. But I usually just say, "No. Life goes on. I need to do all this!"

Today is different. I'm not going to. So there.

Call me lazy.

Maybe being sick isn't so bad after all...

Okay. I lied. It is.

Projects Galore

Last Friday my mom and I did a fun project for my house.

Or rather we started one.

But we talked to much to finish.

So hopefully I can finish it by next week.

But here are the before/after pictures.

and now for some sneak previews of projects to come...

What will I do with these?

Stay tuned!

I dieded.

Yup.

You're right.

I fell off the face of the earth.

With the start of school I have found myself busy.

Very busy.

And now I'm just trying to figure out how to balance all of the things in my life.

Such as:

1. Going to class
2. Homework
3. Keeping my house clean
4. Decorating
5. Going through boxes that still need to be emptied
6. Grocery Shopping
7. Cooking for my husband
8. Training my puppy
9. Appointments
10. Errands
11. Planning primary lessons
12. Getting birthday/baby shower/wedding gifts and attending namely parties
13. Writing a novel
14. Tackling my long list of books to read
15. Scrapbooking
16. Fun projects
17. Reading blogs
18. Writing blogs
19. Getting cute for the day
20. Reading scriptures
21. Working out
22. Spending quality time with my husband
23. Staying in contact with my awesome friends
24. Doing nice things for people (I've REALLY been slacking on this and I feel guilty)
25. Watching So You Think You Can Dance (you may be thinking that this show shouldn't be on this list of important things to do...but it is. This show is my life. I love it. Just deal.)

I'm sure I forgot stuff in there. But that's where my life stands right now.

So yes...I'm blogging less.

And I probably will blog less for the next little while until I figure out how to balance my days. It's already been better the past two, so hopefully in the next week or so I will have a gotten my schedule down.

In the meantime...

Stay tuned for:

** an AMAZING post from the Jess and Brit duo (hopefully up this weekend)

**some projects my mom and I are accomplishing this afternoon

**pics of my house

**a couple FUN projects I hope to do next week (Tuesday and Friday, I hope)

P.S. I'm busy and don't know if I'll have time to do the book club. But I still REALLY want to because I think that it would be fun. One book a month + one night a month = totally awesome girl time discussing a great book. So here's the deal: I'm only gonna commit to it if I know that there are a decent size group of girls willing to do it with me. So if you are serious...let me know. But only if you are committed. And then get me your number or e-mail somehow so I can remind you and get you directions to my house. You can e-mail me at britneyjean32@gmail.com or message me on facebook, too. Any of those work. First discussion will be Thursday, September 24 at 8:00 PM. My house. First book is A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. I know that's one day short of two days notice to read it...but I haven't started yet either (okay, I've read 4 pages--it's good so far!). It's about 350 pages long. We can do it! (If enough people want to do it and say it's too short notice...then I guess we can postpone it a month!) Then we will choose another book that night and discuss it the last Thursday in October and rotate houses.

Sound good?

Oh...and for those of you who said you would love to join but live in various places too far away to come...the day AFTER the discussion, I will post a blog about what we talked about. Then we can all discuss on here together as well. I know a few of you stated earlier you would read along with us. That's totally fine! I'd love that.

Okay...let me know.

And remember to stay tuned for FUN upcoming blogs!

Kids Say the Darndest Things

I found that lately I've come across lots of little kids...and thus, lots of funny comments causing me to laugh so hard I cry.

No seriously though.

Between neighbors, ward members and my CTR 5 primary class...it's been interesting.

So yesterday during my primary class, I jotted down some of the funny things they said. Here are some of my faves:

Brigham: "I'm funny!"

Jeremiah: "We go to the same school."
Brock: "Yeah, we just don't sit at the same table..."
Jeremiah: "Yes we do!"
Brock: **hahahaha*** "I'm just trippin'"

A few minutes into class, a mom brought her son into class late (he was having a rough day). A couple minutes after he had joined our class - and in the middle of the lesson - :
Ava: "Want to see my new earrings?!"

In the middle of the lesson, as well:
Brigham: "She has brown fuzzy shoes!" (Jess's personal fave! He sat in class with me because my teaching partner was gone.)

While coloring:
Ava: "You should use this color. It's pretty."
Ashlyn: "I got a BEAUTIFUL color!"
Brigham: **Points to Ava's color** "That's not beautiful." **Points to Ashlyn's color** "That's not beautiful."
Ava: "Look at my beautiful pink!"

Ava: "Yours is SO beautiful! Do you like mine?"

Ava: "Do YOU know what my best friend's name is?"
Me: "No."
Ava: "Oh."
Me: "What is it?"
Ava: "Eliza."

There were a ton more that I didn't get a chance to write down...and now of course I can't remember them.

But here's a few from other sources...

Before sacrament meeting started, our next door neighbor kids decided to come say hi to me and Jess. Are you ready for the question that was asked? Wait for it...

"Britney! Where's Nash?" (fyi...Nash is our dog that the kids LOVE to come play with!)
"He's at home."
"But why?"
"He can't come to church. That'd be silly. Do you see any dogs here?'
"No. But you sure are leaving him for a long time."
"Umm...yeah." **Guilt stricken, turns to Jess and asks if we can go home and get him**

A family in our ward is related to Jess and kindly invited us over for a yummy dinner. They have four boys. For dessert we had ice cream sundaes. One of the boys informed his dad:
"When I'm old like you, Dad, I'll be allowed to eat a whole TUB of ice cream!"
I joined in.
"That's a LOT of ice cream..."
"I could eat 5 tubs. I love ice cream!"
"FIVE tubs. I think that would make you sick..."
"Ya, probably. But that wouldn't matter. It would be so good that being sick would be okay. Ice cream is my favorite."
"Hmmm..."

And now...here are a few random comments from the kids next door that seriously made my day:

"Britney, how old is your dog?"
"About 13 weeks."
"WOW! THAT'S OLD!"
"Weeks...not years. He's like the same age as your baby brother."
"Oh."

"Britney, how often does Nash sleep?"
"All night long."
"That's a long time to sleep."

"Britney, when Nash goes to the bathroom on the toilet, does he get to stickers?"
"He doesn't go to the bathroom on the toilet...he goes out side, silly!"
"Well does he get to stickers?"
"No...but he gets a treat!" **Thinks to herself: if he ever DOES go on the toilet I'll give him two stickers.**

Yes, they love to use my name (it's cute!). And yes, they are obsessed with my puppy (it's also cute!)

I just love being around little kids. They say the CUTEST things EVER! I just constantly smile when I'm around them.

Hope you enjoyed these as much as me!
