San Francisco Plus Secret Equals Totally Awesome Post

Day One

Flight = longer than expected
I-Pod = dead
Book = entertaining
San Fran = cold
City = big
Mall = heaven

When we first got there, we checked into our hotel, checked into the convention and went to check out the city. We stayed at the Hilton in downtown San Fran which was AWESOME because everything was right there and within walking distance. Jess's aunt Pam and uncle Steve were with us and the four of us ate dinner at a little diner called Lori's Diner right by the hotel. We later found out that these are EVERYWHERE in SF. It was pretty good. Then we walked around...found the HUGEST mall I've ever been to (pure awesomeness) and finally went home to catch up on much needed sleep.

(Pretty View)

Day Two

The boys woke up early for classes and Pam and I went to find breakfast. The hotel breakfast was about $36 a person (riDICuLOUS and SOOO not worth it) and the line for any Starbucks within walking distance was about an hour wait. So we settled for the Sunflower Cafe and had muffins and hot chocolate. It wasn't bad at all! Then we went up to the convention ballroom at the hotel. A bunch of vendors that would appeal to various types of lawyers set-up stations with brochures and free stuff to give to the lawyers advertising their businesses. Pam and I decided to walk around, act interested and get some free stuff. Off we went. Oh yeah...don't worry...they thought I was Pam's daughter and one idiot of a man even commented on how he knew I "hadn't started college yet...". I was like, "Ummmm...dude. Hello? My husband is a lawyer, too. Yes I AM currently in college...thank-you-very-much. Now give me some free candy and pens. Okayyyyz?" I know I don't look much older than my age...but do I seriously still look like a high schooler? Please tell me no....But it was pretty entertaining. After we were finished with the hi-i'm-unable-to-guess-a-girl's-age-and-incapable-of-believing-a-nineteen-year-old-can-be-married vendors, we went shopping. Ummmmm...hmmmm. First, we visited a European store. FCUK. If you're anything like me...you just did a double take. And yes, I know what your thinking..."Did they mispell that to get away with a swear word as a name?" Weird, I know. But it was actually way cute. They had shoes that I was DYING over. Seriously the cutest things i've seen in a LOOOOOOONNNNNGGG time, but sadly, they were out of my price range. Then a three story Urban Outfitters where I went STRAIGHT to the sale racks and scored an ADORABLE shirt for only $5. Yup, that's right. At Urban, $5. L.O.V.E. Then off to the mall where I got the CUTEST headband at Nordstroms. Oh yes. The boys finished class and we headed off to Fisherman's Wharf for lunch. Britney (that's me) had clam chowder for the first time. In case you didn't know, I hate fish. I hate shrimp. I hate crab. I hate any food that comes from the sea minus an occasional tuna sandwhich. But....I LOVED it! It was sooooo good! We took a Bay Cruise under the Golden Gate Bridge and by Alcatraz and then went through the aquarium to see all sorts of sharks, jellyfish, eels, starfish and giant fisheys. We took the cable car home (btw, the most INEFFICIENT people run these things. We waited about 45 minutes in a line that should have been about 15 minutes.) Oh, and we almost lost Steve off the side. Scary ride. Yet fun. Then we went to the law convention opening party. Let me summarize these things for you...a bunch of lawyers and their wives go eat random food (a little American, a little Mexican, a little Italian, and little Chinese -- none good but the Italian), get drunk and talk to people the don't know. We sat around...ate...drank Shirley Temples and then looked at the exhibits (i.e. an albino alligator and a GIANT aquarium with random animals). It was pretty fun!

(Note to store: Change your name. Please. Because this name is gay. Yes, it stands for French Connection United Kingdom...but still. Ghet. Uh. Lyfe.)

(Bay Cruise. The wind was blowing a lot...)

(Starfishy!!)

(Cable car)

Day Three

Church = interesting, but great.
Sausolito = little island across the Golden Gate Bridge. People were EVERYWHERE. Seriously, it was so unbelievable busy. Yes, it was cute. A small little town. I get it. And yes, it was gorgeous. There was a beautiful view of SF from the town. It's true. But seriously people? Why was the WHOLE WORLD there on a Sunday afternoon? There was nowhere to park. There were no appealing places to eat. The stores were fun to look in but there was nothing even worth buying (thank goodness because it was Sunday..) It was nearly impossible to walk on the sidewalk because people were crowded -- walking slow or just standing around (don't you hate that?) But it was fun to go. Then we went to Muir Woods to look at the HUGE redwoods, which was fun! We enjoyed it. Later that night, Jess's parents got into town and the four of us went out to eat.

(View of SF from Sausolito)

(Muir woods. Yes...the pic is WAYYY blurry. But you get the idea of tree size vs. human size still, right?)

Day Three

Boys went to class all day and girls shopped all day. YAY! I love shopping. Sew much fuhn. That night we went to a fancy dinner at the Cliff House restaraunt. Our table overlooked the beach and it was a GORGEOUS view. Seriously, I was in awe and not there for the majority of the dinner conversation because I was so taken aback by the beauty of this earth. Mmmmmm....I love it. This restaraunt is apparently raved about. I didn't really get it...but maybe that's just because I'm not into the whole have-a-menu-of-about-five-things-to-choose-from-pay-thirty-bucks-a-plate-and-receive-half-a-serving-kind of place. Don't get me wrong...the food was REALLY good. Just not my type of place. Plus, I don't understand spending that kind of money at a restaraunt either. But I got the pork. It came in an apricot sauch with califlower, spinach, croutons and apricot chucks on top. The flavor was really good. And everyone's plates looked good. But personally, I wouldn't RAVE about it per se. However, it was really good. After dinner, we went over to Ghiradelli Square for ice cream. Yummy!

(Down the street from the Cliff House)

(My camera stinks. I need a new one BAD. Blurry pictures = no fun).

Day Four

More classes and more shopping. Yup. Then we went to Chinatown. It was a fun and interesting experience. The stuff was way overpriced and they were NOT bagaining with us. We had some funny experiences and overall enjoyed our time there. Then we walked around the city some more.

(Entrance to Chinatown)

Day Five

Packed up...went to lunch...and Jess and I grabbed some books at Border's. Then it was off to our flight. Oh joy. Home again, home again.

Overall, we had a great trip! I'm so glad that we went.

The end.

Oh wait...I said there would be a surprise didn't I? Hmmm....well...here goes.

On Thursday night...Jess and I got a puppy!!! We LOVE him!

Meet the newest member of our little family...Nash!

I'll write more about him later...but here's a couple sneek peek pictures.
