So earlier this month my pom team had the opportunity to compete at a national competition in Anaheim, California. It was one of the funnest weekends OF MY LIFE. And much to our surprise, we were declared the National Pom Champions-it was AMAZING! Our performance on Sunday was the absolute best we had EVER performed which was all we could ask for. At the beginning of the year, we set a goal to win state and nationals-then put it aside. We wanted to do it but more than anything wanted to have fun. So for the rest of the year...our goal was to make every performance better than the last one so at the end of the year (nationals) we could leave the floor with no regrets knowing that it was the best we'd ever done it and we couldn't have done better. So each performance we gave it our all and our everything and made sure that it was better than the last time. We danced our hearts our--for our coach, for our parents, for ourselves, but mostly for EACH OTHER. The team. The friendships that we made throughout the year. Honestly, we have the closest team. Everyone is best friends-sophie, junior, and senior alike. In the three years i've done pom, this team has definitely been the closest and i'm going to miss them terribly now that it is all over. Surprisingly, i'm going to miss the long saturday practices that made me lose all energy for the rest of the day. I'm going to miss having games every friday night that leave me without a social life. I'm going to miss getting sweaty every single morning during first hour leaving me gross for the rest of the school day. And i'm also going to miss laughing with my second family--telling jokes, dancing around crazy when Dannis leaves the room, taking crazy pictures, and just being random. The girls i've met on pom are some of the most amazing girls I have ever met and I love them dearly. Nationals brought us even closer--which I thought was pretty much impossible. I just love my team! :)
